Convert Panasonic TM900 MTS Videos to ProRes 422 for Editing on FCP

MTS format is a high-definition video recording format used by many HD camcorders. These camcorders use MPEG-4 compression to store HD video data on SD cards or hard drives. The MTS video is one part of the AVCHD videos which support shoot HD recordings in 1080p definition.

For most of people, it is not enough to shoot video recordings via HD camcorders. Editing the video footages on the video editing tools seems to be more necessary. But how much do you know about the MTS footages? According to the tests, AVCHD videos like MTS videos are not compatible with Mac, that is to say it becomes not very smooth when playing or editing AVCHD videos on Mac though most Mac Apps support MTS videos for playing or editing.

With the file structure of BDMV and HD video codec like MPEG-4, the Mac media players and video editing tools seem to be difficult in supporting MTS videos. Decoding and playing MTS footages needs excellent and perfect video decoding capacity which most Mac Apps don’t have. So, how can you deal with it to edit MTS videos on FCP? Take Panasonic TM900 for an example, you must be disappointed when it costs a long time to import Panasonic TM900 MTS recordings to FCP for editing.
