  • Guide: How to convert DVD to MP4

MP4 is almost the most popular media format among competitors and it is supported by almost all portable devices, such as iPod, iPhone, PSP, and Zune etc. To extend your enjoyment and to realize watch movies without worries of carrying disks around, you can choose a DVD to MP4 converter. Remember that, this kind of software is only intended for personal convenience and individual entertainment, any case of using this kind of software in a commercial is illegal and prohibited.
MP4 is a container format and it has many presentations, so you need to pay much attention on the output file types or the profile settings, make sure that you have got plenty of profiles of MP4 format. You don’t need bother to adjust the resolution or bitrate with additional application. Being able to customize the output video through adjusting the brightness, contrast, trim your favorite part, crop the image and even allows you to split the video to several ones or merge several videos into one would be a plus. 1. Add DVD videos and Load the Entire video and the title through clicking the button of “Load DVD” and “Load IFO” respectively.



2. Choose an output format and do advanced settings on the profile you have selected if you choose. You can adjust the video codecs, bitrate, resolutions and sample rate etc.

3. Change subtitle, audio track, and angle.
If the DVD movie includes subtitle and audio track with more than one language, you can click on the option box to choose the language you want to show on the video. You can preview the effect immediately, after changing the subtitle/audio track. If the DVD movie has been recorded with different angles, you can choose one angle to enjoy.

Tick the checkbox for "Merge into one file" to get the checked chapters with the selected duration and effect in one output file. The output file name will be the same as the first checked file in the sequence.

4. Custom Settings: effect, duration, image
Select a file, and click on the Edit button, then you can change the visual and audio effect directly.
4.1 Effect
Through this option, you can adjust the value of brightness, contrast and volumes through dragging the sidebar.


Tick the checkbox for "Apply to Child Chapters" if the file you select is a title, or "Apply to All" if the file you select is a chapter. Otherwise, you may click the "Reset" button to gain the default settings.

4.2 You can set the duration of the video through defining specific starting time and end time. Or you can just drag the side bar simply. You shall click the "Apply" button after changing. Otherwise, the change will not be valid.


Enter the time point for the start time and the end time. You shall click the "Apply" button after changing. Otherwise, the change will not be valid. Alternatively, you can drag the slider bars to change the start time and end time.
4.3 Crop image
You can cut the video whatever way you like on this interface and define the size of the video pictures. Select an option under the drop down list of the "Letter Box", drag the dashed frame on the preview pane, or enter value on the boxes for the four positions to set the pixels you want to cut off.

5. Preferences settings: thumbnail, max process
You can change the preferences settings of all files and the ripper, after choosing Options > Preferences.

Set the ripper to overwrite the existing file on the output folder, rename the output file name, or skip the conversion of the file with the same name.
Change the Max Process, if the source DVD from a DVD folder on your hard disk, rather than a DVD on the DVD-ROM, the output folder is a folder on your hard disk, not a portable device.
Under the "Thumbnail" tab, you can set the size and the default output format and output folder of the snapshots.

6. Change output file name
Click on the name on "Destination File", and you can enter the name you want for the file. Press the "Enter" key on the keyboard to save the change. The file name is only available when you keep the title/chapter checked in the front of the "Name"

7. Start conversion
Click on the "Start" button in the bottom right after you have finished all the settings. And there is no need for you to wait before the computer until the conversion ends, you can just leave the conversion alone, just tick the box of “Shut down the computer after conversion” and you will finally get MP4 videos for your iPod, PSP, Zune or Apple TV etc.
